Acupuncture

According to traditional Chinese medical theory, acupuncture points are located on meridians, through which vital energy runs. This energy is known as "qi" or "chi." Blockage of these meridians is what typically causes symptoms in patients. Acupuncture alleviates the body of these blockages and helps return the body to its normal balanced state.

The doctor will consult with, examine the patient to assess their condition(s), and then insert one or more thin, sterile needles. HomeTown Health and Wellness staff offer advice on self-care and other complementary therapies, such as nutrition and lifestyle changes to give the best results possible.

The patient will be asked to sit in a recliner or lie down on their back, front, or one side, depending on where the needles need to be inserted. The acupuncturist uses individually wrapped, disposable, sterile needles. As each needle is inserted, the patient may feel itching, throbbing, warmth, or tingling sensations. After the needle is inserted, there is occasionally a dull ache at the base of the needle that then subsides. Call us today to ask if acupuncture can help you!
