Frequently Asked Questions
Infrared Sauna with Chromotherapy:
1. How often should I use the sauna?
  • For a dramatic impact on your health, well-being and skin, it is recommended to use the sauna 2-3x per week. However, using the sauna once or twice a month for a boost to the immune system and to detox your body is beneficial too.

2. How long is each session?
  • Each sauna session is 20 minutes. We recommend first time users try 10 minutes to start.

3. Is the sauna safe for everyone?
  • Do NOT use the sauna if:

    • you are pregnant or breastfeeding

    • you are under the influence of drugs or alcohol

    • you are under the age of 18 years old

  • Please consult your doctor before using the sauna if:

    • you are taking a prescription medication

    • you have artificial implants, stents, or a pacemaker

    • you have a heat sensitivity or lack the ability to perspire

4. What is the difference between an Infrared Sauna and a Steam Sauna?
  • Infrared saunas are similar in many ways to steam saunas, but unlike a traditional steam sauna that heats the air in the room, Infrared Saunas have a gentle heat that impacts the body directly. Infrared saunas raise your core body temperature more effectively and at a lower and more comfortable room temperature. This type of heat is used in neonatal ICU incubators, which is a testament to its gentleness and efficacy. Studies also show that the sweat produced from an Infrared Sauna contains more toxins than a Steam Sauna.

7. How does the Infrared Sauna help me lose weight, isn't it just water weight I'm losing?
  • Dr. Dean Ward, MD describes the process best, in his editorial from the Journal of the American Medical Association, Aug. 7, 1981- Vol. 246, No. 6: “The fact overlooked by most people who attempt to debunk saunas and other devices that cause enhanced sweating is that the water does not just “leak out” of the body. Sweating is a part of the complex thermoregulatory process of the body involving substantial increases in heart rate, cardiac output, and metabolic rate, and consumes considerable energy.

  • In a sauna, heat is absorbed by the subject from radiation, convection, and conduction. The only means of maintaining body temperatures in the normal range is by evaporation of sweat, a process that consumed approximately 0.586 kcal per gram of water lost.

  • A moderately conditioned person can easily “sweat off” 500g in a sauna, consuming nearly 300kcal-- the equivalent of running 2 to 3 miles. A heat-conditioned person can easily sweat off 600 to 800 kcal with no adverse effects. While the weight of the water lost can be regained by rehydration with water, the calories consumed will not be.”

8. Is the Infrared Sauna safe to use during the pandemic?
  • Although we have sanitizing solution for the sauna that kills the human coronavirus (not tested on COVID-19 yet) and many other viruses and bacteria, along with Lysol/Clorox for all other surfaces in the room, we recommend that any high risk patients do not use the sauna at this time. The sauna also contains an ionizer to clean the air before, during and after all sauna sessions.
